My cat just wanted to be part of the picture so there she is.
I am learning to sew again so while it isn't perfect, it's a good start (the things you don't remember when you don't use them).
You can't really see the embroidery detail of the fabric - great big white flowers (reminds me of the Stampin' Up! Manhattan Flower). Box pleats in the front. A zipper in the back. A lining underneath (that I now realize should have been a little longer) and side pockets.
Great for spring & summer!
It's close enough to April to unveil next month's calendar as part of the Pals Paper Arts Challenge (PPA35) - Anything But A Card.
Because it will be part of my album (on which I have yet to make progress) I kept it relatively 'flat' but looking at the picture, I think a little more pizazz would have been good...ah well May is soon to be in the works.
I am so thrilled that spring is on our doorstep (literally). I snapped this picture a couple of days ago. The first true sign of spring in our yard.
I have already started some seeds indoors and they are looking pretty good. Soon the peas will be shooting up (unless they froze in the recent snow...in which case I'll be replanting LOL!) and the grass is showing signs of green from all of the moisture.

Less than two weeks left to receive free stamps with a $50.00 purchase from Stampin' Up! I received this set, "Spring Song" and love the images and the sentiment. A perfect spring stamp set.
This card is based on the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge (PPA34).
I used 1" stitched grossgrain ribbon for the side pieces (just punch with the slot punch for easier insertion).
And I sponged the edges of the ivory and sentiment oval with Soft Suede and a touch of Antique Linen (Ranger).
But, I wasn't finished there. I also decided to decorate the inside of the card.
And I lightly sponged the edges here too. I think a little blue flower inside would really finish this card. I might just have to add one...

Well, it isn't finished. But, will it ever be? There are always projects to do and things to improve and change. This is what I have accomplished so far.
1. Cleaned everything out and rearranged the furniture, added two overhead lights and this valance.
2.Unloaded two unsightly file cabinets, painted the whole room, cleaned out my bookcase and recovered the piano bench.
3. Had these wonderful shelves installed along with an outlet for my sewing machine & extra computer (which has Photoshop - my laptop doesn't) and my sewing machine. As well as my reference books and much more that has to be sorted before finding a home (there are still several boxes tucked out of sight).
I still have to install shelves next to the door (to the left of this closet) once I make/find them. I have a cute little chair to recover (same fabric as the valance) that will go under those shelves, loads of stuff to take to Goodwill/give away/or ??? and a roller shade to make for the window. Oh yes, I also need a shelf to go under my punches for the upright punches, some baskets for the hutch (???) behind my desk, and a wall organizer to go next to my desk and behind my sewing machine.
Eventually it will be finished but since it might take all summer, I thought I'd better show you these now (while it's clean).

I have been meaning to blog this month's calendar, but between the office chaos and the gorgeous weather it has been so much easier to go outside and play in the yard or find other chores to do.
My office is almost clean (pictures soon to come) and slowly I am moving back into creating and sharing.

I should have taken the time to type it up (or practiced my handwriting but things just aren't quite 'normal' around here).

I have been meaning to share the exciting news (and in all the hullabaloo of renovating my office I just haven't been able to sit at my computer).
I was picked as a Pals Paper Artist Pick for this card!
Yippee!!! Hopefully I'll be able to participate again soon.
I have missed my blog. I have really missed creating. I keep reminding myself that it's for a good cause - really, it is.
I am revamping my office. And it has taken weeks longer than I would have thought - waiting for contractors to bid the work and be available to do the work. I have removed two large, hideous gray cabinets along with several boxes of excess clutter and nonsense that have found their way to Goodwill to clutter up some other person's home (I mean be of service to them).
The walls are painted, two overhead lights have been installed and now...shelving is being installed as I write this.
Hallelujah!
Doesn't seem like it should take more than a couple of days but here we are in March.

And the proverbial closet and hideous filing cabinets. It's a wonder I was able to accomplish anything in this room.
