Large Magnets

A super quick post for today.  It's amazing how challenging it can be to get back in the groove after being away.  I tried a couple of projects but the photos were lousy as I forgot to change the adjustments on my camera!

The magnets started out like this.  They're slightly smaller than 2x2 and have a spring loaded clip to hang onto things as well as attach to the fridge.

I cut the Designer Series Paper and adhered it with Crystal Effects.  A light coating and evenly spread works great.  I used some leftover bits and pieces trying to keep it simple since you have to squeeze the magnet for the clip to work.

Office Supply Tins

How many of you can confess to buying things on sale and then never using them?  Or hoarding really fun paper or goodies because you want the perfect project?  Well, I confess.  I bought about a dozen of this tins from the Stampin' Up! Clearance Rack last fall when they were on sale, thinking that I would figure out the perfect Christmas gift to go with them.  Well, that didn't exactly happen.  As I was looking at them a few weeks ago, I wondered what could I make for the Craft Show?  There had to be something I could do. 

After staring at them for about a month :-D I came up with the idea of making office tins.

I put together a bunch of glass magnets (more details on the magnets here), some medium binder clips covered in leftover DSP, (I really am trying to use up my stash!), some small binder clips I found at the office supply store, and then I made push pins with Paper Daisies and the Boho Blossoms Punch.

 

 

I used super strong magnets and they stick to the tin which is really fun.

 

Although the paper daisies are a little bit fragile, I used Crystal Effects to adhere the push pin to the Boho Blossom and covered the back of the blossom with crystal effects to make it more rigid.  I'm thinking a spray of adhesive would be good to make the paper daisy a bit stronger too.  Although you can't see it in the photo, I also covered the back of the pin with a circle of Whisper White card stock to make it stronger too.

 

Finally, I added a little pouch to the lid with some note paper and decorated it just a bit.  For the final touch, I'll decorate the top of the lid to match and add some ribbon too.  I didn't have time to finish and photograph the front before going on vacation.  I'll show you the others when they are complete.  They're really cute!

Coaster Desk Set

Hello!  Here's another Craft Fair post - are you tired of them yet?  I am :-D  But, I only have a few more projects to show you and then I'll have some cards!

I made these using 4" medium weight coasters.  I covered the front and back with designer series paper - I don't have the name of this one in front of me.  But, I do know it's retired.  I'm really trying to use up all those bits of old paper - no more hoarding for me!

I like these with the post-it notes but another idea is to have a picture or inspirational message on the right.

Once they were covered, I punched three holes along the edge with my Crop-a-dile.  I tied the coasters together with 1/4" basic black grosgrain ribbon.  Then, I decorated the front with a post-it note and a calendar.  I added a sentiment from Pedaling Past (still available as a digital download) and Punch Potpourri (Hostess Level 1), and Sizzix Little Leaves along with a touch of Organza Ribbon.

A note on the calendars:

I have seen places that sell small calendars and places that sell the digital file.  I'll be adding the calendar to my digital downloads for you to purchase soon.  Hopefully sometime in the next week.

However, if you are a perfectionist, I'll tell you that they are a bugger to cut by hand.  It seemed like once I thought I had the perfect measurements, the next one was slightly off.  It's difficult to get them perfect cutting by hand.

So, I printed a bunch of the calendars and brought them to my local office store and had them cut.  I still have some left and highly recommend having them professionally cut if you want a bunch of them.  Depending on how much they charge, it may be less expensive to find a pre-made solution.

I still have a ton of 4" Medium Weight Square and Circle Coasters.   If you would like some, just let me know.  They are $0.30 each.  I'll be available to ship them begining May 2.  First Class runs about $2.75.

Coffee Packets

Ok, I have to admit, I am absolutely in love with the Morning Cup stamp set and this idea.  I just think they are so darn cute and the pictures don't begin to do them justice :-D

After making a bunch of tea tins, I thought, how can I make something for coffee lovers too?

I searched through my stash of unused supplies and found these cello bags and got to work!

I started by making them with the stamped image on the outside, but then what to do for the packets?

So, I switched up the next few by decorating the outside and then putting the stamped image on the inside.

So fun!

I don't remember where I got the idea to stamp the coffee pot on Designer Series Paper.  I know you're out there - thank you for the idea! 

I used Jet Black StazOn ink to stamp the image on the circle (2-1/2" Circle Punch) and then stamped the image on DSP and cut the pot out and layered it on top.  I didn't bother to cut out the handle, I just colored it with markers.

I used Early Espresso for the packets and made the pouches large enough to hold 2-3 packets of Via, a note card and a gift card fits too.

To keep the flap closed, I used a velcro dot.

The wide striped ribbon made the decorating really easy!  And of course flower dies make everything even that much easier.

This tag uses the For You Flower.  I punched out the center, rimmed the inside edge of the tag in Cherry Cobbler with a marker and glued the circle to the tag.

I'm not sure how much I'm going to charge for them, I still have to figure out my cost. 

And, I know you're going to ask about the cellophane bags and I honestly don't remember where I got them.  Maybe Stampin' Up! clearance rack but they could be from before my SU days...I'm not sure.   I think the medium or small flat cello bags (#102757) offered by Stampin' Up! would work great.  They measure 4x6 and the small measure 3x5. 

I used too many supplies to list them all here - but if you have specific questions, let me know.  I used the Circle Scissors Plus to create a 2-3/4" circle behind the 2-1/2" punched cirlce and Scallop Circle #2 Die for the Scallop Circle.  The flowers are from Fun Flowers Die, Paper Daisies #2, Boho Blossoms, and the smaller Scallop Circle Punch.

More Notebooks and a Sneak Peek

I posted these notebooks last week and have a few more to show you.  I love this notebook and I love this nautical paper from the Summer Mini Catalog too.  I used Not Quite Navy with the DSP and the stamp set from Word Play.  My favorite touch is the bit of Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine tied through the grommets.

I love how crisp and sharp the image is.

This paper is now retired but looks great with Have a Seat.  The paper was a great find in the Clearance Rack which really helps out with profits when doing craft shows.  The twine was another great piece for this notebook.  I used Take Note from Notably Ornate for the tags.

I've used nearly all of the paper from Greenhouse Gala but found a piece just large enough.

This paper is also retired...I used the sentiment from Sense of Time for this one.

Last but not leat a little bit of Botanical Gazette with Nature Walk.  I stamped the bird in Early Espresso on Vellum paper.  Then, I cut it out and applied it to the notebook with a little bit of Crystal Effects.  The flower is a Paper Daisy that I colored with a touch of water and Red Riding Hood Ink.

Morning Cup Magnets

Have you ever tried to make magnets?  I made a bunch of glass and epoxy magnets.  While I haven't had time to phtograph the glass magnets, I wanted to show you these cute magnets using Morning Cup.

I started with Morning Cup and Early Espresso ink.  Then, I colored the images with various Stampin' Write markers.

The epoxy squares are 1" and fit right over the top of the image.  They're self-adhesive and not repositionable so be sure to get right the first time.

Then, to make a little bit of a frame, I colored around the frame with Early Espresso ink and cut the square out.

Once cut out, I edged the square with a little more ink using my marker. 

Then, I adhered them to 1" wooden squares and glued super strong mini magnets to the back with E-6000.  I think they turned out pretty cute!

I know you're going to ask, I got the epoxy, squares and glue from a gal on Etsy.  I got a variety of glass squares, circles, and epoxy squares and circles with wooden backs.  The wood and epoxy were easier to use but I like the look of the glass domes best.

Tea Tins

They are having a tea party over at Our Creative Corner this week.  I was anxious to get out this stamp set and make something for the upcoming Craft Show (May 6th & 7th!).  It's finally getting close! I put together these tins of tea packets.  I'm not 100% thrilled with how they turned out.  It seems like someting is missing.  Maybe flowers?  More paper?  Button?  I'm going to think on it overnight and see how they look in the morning...

I used the wheel, Take a Sip and the set Morning Cup.

I modified the "tea"rific by using "you are" from the Hostess Level 1 Birthday Bakery.  I use the clear mount stamps which makes it easy to line up the sentiments.  I just colored the "you are" with markers.

I combined a variety of Yogi, Zen & Allegro teas in each tin and I'm thinking a little chocolate stick or biscotti on top would be the perfect touch.

I do like the little cupcakes from Itty Bitty Bits.  I think they make a pretty cute addition.  And, did you notice the new Postage Punch???  I love it!

Fox & Friends Bookmarks

 

I love these bookmarks.  I especially love how easy they are to make and that Fox and Friends works so well.  Only the giraffe is too tall :-)

The owl punch is great for these too!

I get the jumbo paper clips from office supply stores or Target (some of them carry the colored clips).

Then, I stamp the images on Whisper White, punch with the 1-3/8" punch and then a piece of card stock with a 1-1/2" punch (not offered by Stampin' Up! but hopefully in the next catalog).  Then, two scallop circles.

I adhere with glue dots and then add a touch of ribbon with a square knot (right over left, left over right) so the knot stays in place.

Flower Power Notebooks - Summer Mini Sneak Peek

Bright. Bold. Beautiful!

WHOW!!!  Can you believe these colors?

I know you can't really tell from the picture but the Wild Wasabi green and Melon Mambo are embossed!!! Yup - new embossing powder in three great colors!

This sentiment is from sense of time, but the other sentiment is included in the set.

These look like cards, but in fact, they are notebooks. 

I had a bunch of Jr. Legal Pads and brought them to Kinko's to get them cut in half.  They cut them in half, the wrong way!  Rather than tossing them, I thought I'd make a 'double notebook'.  When you open the notebook, there is a notepad on each side.  Kind of handy for the 'to do' and 'to get' lists.

They are approximately 4.25 x 5 when closed so you can get two per sheet of card stock.  

Did I mention I love how bright, bold and beautiful these colors are for summer - LOL - :-D  The paper makes me smile just looking at them.

Coaster Post-it Note Holders

These are fun and oh so easy!  I ordered a ton of blank coasters and I'm having a great time creating projects with them.  I decided to make some post-it note holders that could be used on a desk or hung from a bulletin board and will make a couple with magnets too.  This is just a small sample.

I cut pieces of paper to 4 x 4, adhered to the coasters with SNAIL Adhesive, cut the corners, sanded the edges then adhered the post-it note.

The binders are medium size with a little decorative paper taped to the binder and tied with a touch of ribbbon.
