Strawberries for Mom

Have you seen this idea yet?!?!  I just love the embosslits heart as the strawberry. I think it is just too cute!  I wish I could take credit for the idea but I actually CASED this card from Julie B.  Check out her verions here.  I loved it and just had to make my own verson.  Too fun!

Sneak Peek Paisley Petals

Are you ready for some new Designer Series Paper?  Stampin' Up! has some fun and bold new paper arriving soon.  Here's a sneak peek of what it looks like.

I love the paper with Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler in this 3x3 Scallop Square Easel card.  It's a little early for Mother's Day, but I thought it would make a great Mother's Day gift.

The Petal Cone is a similar design to this project (in Springtime Vintage DSP).

I designed it to hang, but I think it looks great with just the ribbon closure on top.  The matching easel card is made with Early Espresso as the base, the new Paisley Petals DSP, a touch of 1/2" Cherry Cobbler seam binding (scrunched with thread) and a butterfly from Beautiful Wings embosslits.

The little flower on the base is from Bliss in Marina Mist and the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Sweet Sunday Sketch (SSSC105)

It is a sweet Sunday today so why not use the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge (SSSC105) to create a card?

As I'm looking at this card, I'm thinking it would make a really nice Mother's Day card...

I had some Elegant Soiree scraps sitting on the cutting table from previous cards and decided to start with those.

And, since the Elegant Lines embossing folder coordinates perfectly with the paper, I used that to add interest to the background.

I made the circle with the 3" Circle Die from the Occasions Mini Catalog, edged it with some crochet trim, added a flower from Bella Bleu DSP (another remaining scrap) with the Island Floral Bigz Die and then added the Butterfly from another Big Shot die, Beautiful Butterflies. 

The pearls are from the Pretties Kit (on sale in the Clearance Rack) and the ribbon is Baja Breeze.

This was a fun and easy sketch.  I might just have to make another.

Tulips & Confessions

I have a confession to make.

I have never liked pink. 

As a little girl, I liked blue and red.  Period.  No pink.  No purple.  And definitely no lavender.

When Pink Pirouette came onto the scene as an "In-Color" last year, I thought it was OK and used the paper on occasion for a 'girlie' card here and there.

This past year, Melon Mambo arrived - bold and bright.  I couldn't quite handle it.  Give me shades of brown, blue, distressed looks, and soft greens.  Just not this "in your face" pink. Yikes!

Well, after a good year of using both Pink Pirouette and Melon Mambo (along with Rose Red I might add).  I am in love with both pinks and am thrilled that they "made the cut" and will continue to be included in the Stampin' Up! collection of colors.  In fact, I must admit, I was hoarding the last of my Pink Pirouette, wondering what I would do when I came to the last piece.   How could I ever replace such a soft pink?

Thankfully, having cut into my last pieces of 8 1/2 x 11 of both colors, I will be able to continue to use two of my new favorite colors: Pink Pirouette & Melon Mambo.  After all, they make great tulips!

Today's card features tulips made with the Island Floral Bigz die released in the Summer Mini Catalog along with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

I think this would have made a lovely Mother's Day card and could make a lovely Bridal or Baby Shower card - just change the tag/add a different sentiment. 

I also think the tulips would make a great gift box top.

Daffodil Delight Sneak Peak

I'm sure you have heard about the Stampin' Up! Color Renovation that is going to occur this July with the new Idea Book & Catalog.  Well, I received my Success Magazine with a piece of each of the new In Colors and am I excited for the new catalog!

As I was putting this card together I saw Daffodil Delight sitting on my desk.  I couldn't help myself, I just had to punch a couple of flowers for this Mother's Day Card.

Isn't the yellow just yummy?  I created a pleated edge along the bottom of the cardin Bella Bleu DSP (it's a little difficult to see in the picture) and sewed the band along the top and the bottom.  To get the little flowers to curl, I wet both sides of the flower with water and scrunched the petals up.  They dry in the new buttercup shape.

The flower was made with the scallop circle punch.  I punched about 6 or 8 circles and folded and layered them on top of one another.  The button brad is Summer Sun and the little flowers are Daffodil Delight with Old Olive leaves (Sizzix Little Leaves).

I also decorated the inside.

MOM - Crazy Color Combo

Wow!  What a color combination!  I was inspired to make this card using large flowers after seeing these cinquefoils on a recent hike. 

I wanted to make a flower in purple and decided to go for the Rich Razzleberry.  When I found these bright yellow Summer Sun buttons on the shelf, I decided to go for it with Rich Razzleberry and Crushed Curry.

Feeling Green (Mojo 134)

I must be feeling the influence of green - leaves popping out, peas starting to shoot up in the garden and the grass turning green behind our house.  Perhaps that was the inspiration for this Mojo Monday (Moj134) card based on this sketch.

I rarely use just one color with a neutral but the Old Olive DSP with the emossing plate turned out quite well.

• Whisper White card base, layered with Old Olive card stock embossed with "Eyelet" texture plate (matches the DSP)
• The coordinating layers are Old Olive Designer Series Paper that matches perfectly
• Sentiment is from Well Scripted.  I used the matchbox die for the background and a coordinating Old Olive mat behind it.
• The sentiment was decorated with Tiny Tags in -you guessed it-Old Olive

The flower was made with Whisper White & Old Olive using the small heart punch and 5 petal punch along with a little sponging and Tombow glue to hold it together.
